Vincent Kompany's side cruised to a 4-0 win over Mainz in the cup competition, with all four of the away side's goals coming in the first half. Kane was not on the scoresheet but fans will be able to forgive their striker considering it is only the fifth time in 13 appearances that he has failed to score this season. A hat-trick from Jamal Musiala and a strike from Leroy Sane ensured the Bavarian giants passed safely through into the third round and Kane took to Instagram to celebrate the win.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Since Bayern's humbling 4-1 defeat at Barcelona last week in the Champions League, Kane and Co have bounced back well. As well as their cup triumph, Kompany's men also put five past Bochum at the weekend to extend their stay at the top of the Bundesliga, although they remain level on points with RB Leipzig.
AFPWHAT NEXT FOR BAYERN?
Bayern return to the Allianz Arena on Saturday when they face Union Berlin in the league. Kane will be itching to get back on the scoresheet in that one before his side host Benfica in the Champions League.
