Leipzig made an agreement with Simons, 22, that he would be allowed to leave in the summer and they are ready to cash in, with reporting that the club must sell players to raise funds. They are looking to recoup €100 million (£85m/$114m) – a total they are sure to surpass by selling both 21-year-old Sesko and Simons. Leipzig also feel they are not getting value for the €12m (£10m/$14m) salary they pay the inconsistent Simons.

United will have to pay around €70m (£60m/$80m) to land Simons, who joined on a permanent transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in January. Sesko has a reported agreement with the Bundesliga side that would see him go for the same price.
